Interpretation of Growth Medium Analyses Data

R999.00

Course Overview

This course will enable students to evaluate and interpret the analytical data in order to

  • Quantify the current productive status of the growth medium.
  • To identify physical and chemical factors that will reduce plant production.
  • To assess corrective measures in terms of practicalities, cost and timing.
  • To prepare recommendations to optimize crop production.

Interpretation of Growth Medium Analyses Data

After successful completion of this course the student will receive a JGK completion Certificate.

In this course we will deal with the evaluation of growth mediums during the period of plant production and the suitability of material to be used as growth mediums in container cultures.

Production of plants in containers is usually more expensive mainly due to the physical structures required to support the shade nets or plastic sheeting and to control the environment (heating, cooling and humidity). Therefore, plants must grow at optimum rate to produce healthy plants in the shortest possible time. In such a system, the quality of the growth medium plays an important role.
